Skills, knowledge and experience
Having over 18 years of experience working with young people and adults, in both voluntary and statutory settings, including the planning and delivery of school-based programmes and PSHE curriculum. I am experienced in project management including the training, supervision and recruitment of volunteers and mentors.
As a qualified Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) a recent role within a Gangs Unit involved using a gender-specific trauma responsive approach in key working of girls and women. Aspects of my work involved working with the effects of domestic abuse, adolescence to parent abuse, sexual exploitation and the impact of youth violence on the family unit. I also assisted with the setting up of research projects for Catch22 Dawes Unit.
I have given evidence at the Home Office Select Affairs Committee into EGYV agenda and represented Catch22 at the Home Office Women & Girls Working Group.
Currently I am an Independent Advisory Group member for West Midlands Police.
An approved Independent Safeguarding Trainer I currently deliver multi-agency and single agency training for both the statutory and voluntary sector. A proud moment has been the delivery of domestic abuse training which has resulted in me being acknowledged in a book.
I initially trained as a mentor and skilled helper and more recently qualified as a Life Coach. This feels very much like a natural transition I have for as long as I can remember worked with individuals in this capacity, working in the areas of self-awareness, empowerment and work/life balance.
